    Indeed, Ashley, teachers- and their students are “absolutely awesome”.  Ever so often the value of teachers is undermined, not just in financial terms, but also in the respect that they receive from the society in general.  The task, though, of the teacher remains a daunting and very challenging one, where they are expected to, not just thoroughly teach a curriculum in a limited time frame, and ensure that their students are ready for a test, but also to be a confidant, a mentor, a disciplinarian, a parent figure- and the list goes on.  Keep being energized about the many opportunities in teaching, and continue to spread the joy of being in the classroom.  Your students will appreciate you as you continue to touch their lives.

    @Dwayne

    I know my response may appear late, but I thank you and appreciate your encouragement.

    Yes, I have often viewed and heard the unsettling attitudes towards teachers in society. A student said to me one day, “Don’t you realize teachers are primarily responsible for the growth and development of who I want to be in life…if anyone wants to be a teacher, they have to fully understand what they are doing.” If everyone had that outlook on teachers in this society, I think teachers would be appreciated more. But we (teachers) fight the good fight, continue with our great mission, and do the best we can to mold/shape the future minds of this world.
